Step 2 - Install Your Driver

Install the driver using compatibility mode (using Vista or XP)? or using the TROUBLESHOOT COMPATIBILITY tool.
1. Navigate to the .EXE (of the driver you downloaded to the folder on the desktop)
2. Right Click the .EXE driver and to Run the TROUBLESHOOT COMPATIBILITY tool - select TROUBLESHOOT COMPATIBILITY

2. (Cont'd) Right click on the .EXE (installer to install the driver) and select Properties
3. If you chose to run the Troubleshoot Compatibility tool - if Windows finds a possible solution it will respond with 'TRY WINDOWS RECOMMENDED SETTINGS' and 'CUSTOMIZE SETTINGS' . Choose Try Windows Recommended Settings to use the driver setting Windows suggest.

If this device is critical for you, there is another solution that does not involve any expense, as long as you have a qualifying system.
The Windows Virtual PC is a new freely available program that is designed for Windows 7.
This comes with a specially configured VHD (Virtual Hard Drive) called XP Mode, Which is a specially configured, fully licensed version of Windows XP.
When configured properly you can install a program/hardware device, with drivers designed to run on Windows XP and it will place a shortcut to the program directly on the Windows 7 Start Menu.
